WHAT

New American Visionaries (NAV) is an online short-documentary series featuring notable Hispanic innovators, entrepreneurs and visionaries living and working in New York. Available through the interactive web portal NewAmericanVisionaries.com, each “webisode,” which will be updated on a weekly basis, will feature different Latino leaders who will recount through their own words and testimonies their personal and professional experiences, the challenges they have encountered, how they overcame them, and the role their heritage has played in their professional lives. New American Visionaries will feature entrepreneurs and visionaries across all industries and fields, from the arts, business and finance to the technology and non-profit sectors.

WHY

In line with several nationwide programs designed to make it easier for immigrant-owned businesses to start and grow in the United States, New American Visionaries is an independent pilot project that aims to complement and expand on these initiatives. Seeking to inspire and foster entrepreneurial enterprise, innovation and leadership amongst the city’s fast-growing Latino population, each “webisode” will recount a new success story told through the words and testimonies of the company’s founder. By providing a medium through which these impresarios can virtually connect with the rest of the community, New American Visionaries will aid youth and adult business education, promote business investment in new technologies, expand the workforce and encourage diversification.The site aims to aid youth and adult business education, promote business investment in new technologies, expand the workforce and encourage diversification.  It will offer local Hispanic-owned businesses a platform where small companies can connect with large agencies and financiers who can help their businesses grow.

STATUS OF PROJECT
